Ostrava museum
It is the oldest surviving building from the original historical city centre. During the last reconstruction in 2004-2005 a new set of chimes, consisting of 22 bells, was installed. The bells peal out popular Ostrava melodies two minutes before the hour from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Under a glass floor, you cen see the remains of walls and foundations from the 14th century. http://www.ostrmuz.cz/

National Cultural Monument - Michal Colliery
The authentically preserved Michal Colliery can boast a complex buildings dating
from 1912-1915. The site still houses the most important exhibits from the Ostrava
and Karviná collieries (the winding gear, main colliery building, machinery room,
et). The idea of exposition rests upon the authenticity and details of last working
day. The tour goes in the footprints of a miner getting into work.

Vítkovice Site - Hlubina Colliery, Coking Plant, Blast Furnaces
This site is a unique example of industrial architecture from the first half of
the 19th century. The site was occupied by a puddle furnace from 1828. The site
provided for an entire industrial process from start to finish, from the mining
of coal as a raw material, through the manufacture of coke, to its use in the production
of iron.This continued uninterrupted until 1998.

Mining Museum OKD
Opened in 1993, the museum houses the collections of the former Coal-Mining Museum
(established in 1905) and contains permanent exhibitions on the primeval settlement
at Landek, and the development of the mining industry in the Ostrava and Karviná
area from 1782 up to the present. One mine shaft is open to the public. The site
was designed by Viennese architects between 1890 and 1915 and is an example of the
typical local red-brick style with its use of facade decorations. Nearby is the
Landek archaeological site.

New City Hall Viewing Tower (85,6 m)

Silesian-Ostrava Castle
The castle is situated at the confluence of the Ostravice and Lučina rivers. The
first written document referring to it dates from 1297. This caste can boast by
being a unique technical site. Due to mining under the castle, this site has sunk
by 17 metres. The castle regularly hosts cultural events in winter and summer.

MINIUNI
This unique attraction is fun both for kids and adults. Covering an area of approximately
1,5 ha, there are more than 27 models of famous European buildings. It is dominated
by a 12-metre high replica of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. You can also find Prague’s
Old Town Hall, the Acropolis in Athens, the Seven Wonders of the World and much
more. All models are made to the scale of 1:25. There is also a working model railway,
airport and waterways with a steamship.

Stodolní Street
Stodolní Street is situated in the heart of Ostrav. It is a unique centre of the
social life in the city of Ostrava. There are over 50 bars, restaurants and clubs
to be found in this street and its close neighbourhood. During the weekend, this

Colours of Ostrava
Colours of Ostrava is an outstanding world music festival that takes place every
year right in the centre of Ostrava (Černá Louka, Silesian-Ostrava Castle and Stodolní
Street). This festival has several scenes so that every visitor can be satisfied
with the wide range of music styles and genres.
